MEET KEITH MANTERNACH

I was born in Monticello Iowa in 1965 and grew up on a farm before moving to Alaska in 1987. Once in Alaska I worked as an automotive technician before opening Specialty Truck and Auto in 1993, and I continue to operate that business while being involved in commercial real estate investments.

I have a daughter named Skylar that was born in 1998, and on my time away from the office Skylar and I like to travel back to Iowa so she can spend time on the farm with Grandma and Grandpa. When we are in Alaska we do a lot of flying in our airplanes to go fishing and hunting in the greatest state in the country.

In January 2007 while in Reno at a Safari Club International convention, my friend Bob Candopulos and I came up with the idea for the Annual Armed Services YMCA Combat Fishing Tournament, and along with the ASYMCA staff and many volunteers we have been trying to make it into a better event every year since.

Along with many people in the Alaska Aces Hockey organization, I help coordinate the Military Appreciation weekend each year to entertain the enlisted population of our military, I spearhead the effort to get donations from the great people of Alaska to buy tickets, so that the greatest among us that put everything on the line for us each day can spend a night out with their families enjoying a hockey game with the people of Anchorage.

In 2009 I was asked to be part of the Armed Services YMCA of Alaska board, and now I have the privilege of being involved with a group of people that are as dedicated as I am to doing what we can to making life a little bit easier to the junior enlisted.
